The unique itinerary started on August 26, 2013, when the ship left Kangerlussuaq Greenland to arrive in Anadyr Russia on September 16. Among the ports of call along the route were Beechey Island and King William Island (Gjoa Haven). During these voyages, Ponant cruise passengers enjoyed seeing hundreds of beluga whales and narwhales, and around 60 polar bears. Charles Hedrich (French sportsman and adventurer) was also there as a special guest - being the world's first man to solo cross the Northwest Passage (in September 2009) in a rowing boat. The interior design of the 132 staterooms and suites of the Le Soléal features a range of entirely soft and gentle colours, with greys and whites combining with natural wood. The Le Soléal thus brings to mind the looks and styles of the world of yachting, whilst at the same time adding a touch of sophistication.

A typical day on board a Sistership
Because our cruises combine exploration with elegance, we offer exceptional services, worthy of the highest standards of luxury, whether it's on board our ships or during your excursions or outings and landings. Enjoy a refined atmosphere throughout the day which complements the exotic nature of the programmes on land. The vessel is a certified "Cleanship" (like the sisterships), featuring a modern marine propulsion system. It provides smooth and quiet navigation by creating reduced engine noise and little vibration. The modern vessel positioning system eliminates the need for the ship to anchor in order to remain stable, thus preventing contacts with seabeds in environmentally sensitive areas, such as coral reefs.

The Gastronomic Restaurant offers a sophisticated dining experience with a menu that reflects the diversity of the destinations you’ll visit. Prepared by talented chefs, each dish is a work of art, combining local flavors with international culinary techniques. From the moment you step onboard Le Soleal, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of understated luxury. The ship’s interior is the epitome of elegance, with a contemporary design that combines chic style with warmth. The use of natural materials like wood and stone, along with soothing color palettes, creates a welcoming ambiance. Three cabins are wheelchair-adapted; the whole ship is wheelchair-friendly, but split-level decks mean complicated chairlifts need to be used to get up or down the equivalent of a few stairs.

Clientele varies dramatically according to the season, with younger families traveling during European school holidays and older couples attracted to the longer cruises to more remote locations. On our Mediterranean cruise in August, about 60 percent of the passengers were French; the remainder hailed from the U.S., U.K., Germany and countries as far afield as Japan and Brazil. The maitre d' will seat you on an English-speaking table at dinner if you ask, and all the mainly Indonesian crew speak English (often better than they speak French). There will always be English-speaking excursions when there are international passengers onboard, and announcements are made in English, as well as in French.
Deck 4
Le Soleal offers a range of cabins and suites, each exquisitely appointed to ensure a comfortable and luxurious stay. The ship features 132 staterooms and suites, all with private balconies that allow you to immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes you’ll encounter on your voyage. One of the Ponant fleet's four sister ships (Le Boréal, Le Soléal, L'Austral, Le Lyrial), Le Soléal's six-deck layout provides a truly intimate cruising experience for passengers. Le Soléal's inviting staterooms and suites are designed with a sophisticated French touch and offer incredible views of the surrounding ocean.

Le Soleal cruise ship is the third in a three megayachts series commissioned by Compagnie du Ponant, with sisterships Le Boreal (2010), L’Austral (2011) and Le Lyrial (2015). The vessel started operations with a maiden voyage in July 2013. Our ship Le Soléal has many spaces designed and fitted out with the need to provide privacy for all passengers in mind. Cosy and refined in feel and atmosphere, these lively spaces provide moments of relaxation and conviviality to suit every taste.. For any booking of 4 people from the same family, 2 adults or seniors and 2 children or youth, we offer 18€ of discount on the total price of the 4 cruises.
Indulge in a dip in the pool on Deck 6, or a spa experience in partnership with SOTHYS™ on Deck 5, featuring massage and treatment rooms, a beauty salon, balneotherapy room, and a fitness studio. The Recreation Area on the same deck includes a studio for viewing and ordering photos, a Kids Club featuring games and consoles, and more. As the travel industry increasingly focuses on sustainability, Ponant and Le Soleal are committed to responsible tourism. The cruise line takes steps to minimize its environmental impact by implementing eco-friendly technologies and practices, including wastewater treatment, reduced emissions, and waste reduction. A significant part of the Le Soleal experience is the presence of expert expedition teams on board. These seasoned professionals, including naturalists, historians, and geologists, enhance your journey by providing valuable insights and guiding you on excursions.
Please note that Le Soleal is not actively sailing any cruises listed with Adventuresmith Explorations. Contact us for current information on this ship and comparable options, or browse all of our small Antarctica ships to filter by ship size. Deluxe Suites’ bathrooms also feature separate bathtub/sink, WC and shower. Prestige and Deluxe cabins are the same and differ only by deck location/price.
Finally, there are eight Superior staterooms forward on Deck 3, slightly bigger at 226 square feet, but with picture windows in place of a balconies. All cabins have sitting areas with sofas and long vanities with drawer space. With the exception of Superior cabins (with Picture Window), all the Le Soleal ship’s staterooms have private verandas with luxury lounge furniture (small table with 2 rattan chairs).
PONANT's commitments in terms of environmental policy form part of the company's corporate purpose. This approach that ndicates the priority importance of this topic, is illustrated through the international certifications and labels the company holds. Our commitments to a more sustainable and responsible tourism are assessed and recompensed on a regular basis by recognised organisations. We take passengers to discover rare destinations and to meet the populations that have lived there for centuries. So, our itineraries are planned out in consultation with the local authorities and we make our crew, naturalist guides and passengers aware of good practices to adopt in the communities in which they will be staying. Your late afternoon continues in front of a beautiful sunset to the sound of beautiful melodies played on the piano, with an aperitif.
